dopamine: reward, pleasure, & addiction
dopamine is a neurotransmitter that controls brain's reward and pleasure centers. It helps regulate movent and also responses too. The deficiency of this brain chemical is in the parkinson's disease; one of the genetic disorders. dopamine plays role in addiction. It is a brain chemical involved in motivation, pleasure and also learning. when you consume addictive drugs or do anything that can fly you to heaven can cause flood of dopamine in brain. addiction is powerful memories. the recovery is a slow process where the influence of those memories is disminished. both addictive drugs and highly pleasurable or intense experience (death thrill, a crime, orgasm) trigger the release of dopamine which in turn creates a reward circuit in the brain, which registers that intense experience as "important" to the brain and creates lasting memories of it as a pleasurable experience, giving the "want, want want more, more and more" feeling. dopamine changes the brain on a cellular level, commaning the brain to do it again.
